In 2014, Dr. Ajumobi realized there was no online resource for patients preparing for colonoscopy. He founded BowelPrepGuide to provide bowel prep, colonoscopy, and digestive health resources to patients and providers. The website is the leading authority on bowel preparation and colonoscopy. The website received the first American College of Gastroenterology Service Award for Colorectal Cancer Outreach, Prevention & Year-Round Excellence (SCOPY) for the category “Best Patient Education Brochure, Flyer or Website.”
In 2013, Dr. Wale Ajumobi developed a quality program for the gastroenterology department at University of Texas, San Antonio, Texas. The project was titled “Development of Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Quality Improvement Program, Quality Metrics and Reporting Tools (EQUIPMENT).” This project led to an award and a poster presentation at the American College of Gastroenterology Scientific Meeting.
Reducing Hospital Re-admission at the VA
Between 2010 and 2012, Dr. Ajumobi developed the “Patient Aligned Care Team Post Hospitalization Telephone Intervention.” He developed transition of care tools for use at Loma Linda VA Healthcare System and Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 22. This included a mechanism for making a post discharge telephone appointment for patients at the time of discharge. As well as a mechanism for notifying primary care team of discharge and telephone appointments. A post discharge telephone script was developed to guide the telephone calls.
